Since 2019, we have worked with the Medical Director, Dr Alex Crowe and the medical teams at Warrington and Halton Hospital, to develop the FIRST EVER Ward Round Accreditation programme utilising our existing ward accreditation framework.
The Rapid Improvement Events were held with a Multi-Professional team of Consultants, Trainee Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Pharmacists and Operational Managers, in June 2019. PDSA tests of change took place across medical, surgical and paediatric wards to establish the final process and prompt sheets.
Our QSUS Software module for Ward Round Accreditations includes ward based audits to establish good practice standards, feedback surveys to ensure the patient voice within improvements, and all the resources (prompt sheets, results calculator, action plan and report generator tool) needed to support the accreditation process.
Feedback from the teams involved showed that the impact of Ward Round Accreditations raised staff morale, improved the multi-professional team working, improved medical trainee experiences and had a significant impact in raising the importance of a high quality Ward Round leading to improved patient care.
